The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (part of the Horizon Europe programme)
The Pathways2Resilience project adopts an innovative, systemic approach to advancing regional climate resilience across 100 regions in Europe, helping shape a cornerstone of economic and social development and net zero commitments. Co-designing with local communities, P2R helps regions understand climate risks, develop pathways for climate adaptation, and test and deploy innovative solutions to build resilience, ensuring enduring impact backed by political commitment.
The project mobilises regional interest, progressively elevating the ambitions and capabilities of the regions to achieve this transformation through the pathways and innovation agendas within its Regional Resilience Journey framework. Through three open call cycles, €21 million will be allocated to 100 regions and communities to support their journeys, emphasising citizen engagement and stakeholder co-creation.
P2R builds knowledge on adaptation innovations across Key Community Systems and their enabling conditions, increases literacy and access to innovative adaptation finance, and has developed a Resilience Maturity Curve to baseline and monitor regional resilience capacities.
We deliver cutting edge expertise in the climate-change adaptation mission’s Key Community Systems, with a focus on critical infrastructure and corresponding key enabling conditions such as mobilisation of sustainable finance, tools and regional networks.
We play a pivotal role in the development of services as part of Key Community Systems that enable the co-design of climate resilience pathways and innovation agendas. Additionally, GIB contributes to the development of support services aimed at bridging the adaptation finance gap.
In-person convening of 13 consortium organisations from 10 countries to kick off the project and lay the foundation for the implementation framework.
Official launch in Brussels, bringing together interested regions, consortium partners, and key stakeholders, including the Director of the Directorate-General for Climate Action (EC) and the Manager of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.
First open call for regions to join the project, offering €21 million in sub-grants.
