GIB offers comprehensive, end-to-end solutions that support the entire lifecycle of sustainable infrastructure. From creating globally recognised standards and certifications to providing technical expertise, fostering collaboration across stakeholders, driving research to leading project development, our holistic and integrated approach ensures impactful, resilient projects that thrive in a changing world and create lasting change across sectors and regions.
Our services enable organisations to meet sustainability standards and drive responsible infrastructure development. Through comprehensive assessments and certification processes, we provide project validations, helping stakeholders enhance credibility, align with global best practices, and demonstrate commitment to sustainable infrastructure. Designing and implementing tools like the FAST-Infra Sustainable Infrastructure Label, a globally applicable label for infrastructure projects/assets demonstrating significant positive sustainability performance.
Providing financiers with credible and independent expertise to capitalise on ESG best-practices, and supporting the development of innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable infrastructure, such as sustainable impact bonds, advancing research to demonstrate the superior business case for sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Our Horizon Europe projects like NATALIE, Pathways2Resilience, and Re-Value, exemplify our successful efforts to build capacities and provide advisory on building sustainable funding streams, mobilising regional networks, and driving tools for accelerated, scalable adaptation solutions.
Convening multi-stakeholder approaches across sectors and regions to influence global discourse and bridge the gap between projects and funders. Use of inclusive methodologies like deliberative dialogues and participatory planning to engage diverse stakeholders. Successful examples include the S²Cities programme, where youth collaborate with city officials to shape future urban spaces, and the FAST-Infra Label, a standardised framework developed with global partners to attract private investment in sustainable infrastructure. These multi-stakeholder efforts bridge gaps between projects and funders while influencing global sustainability practices.
Pioneering new approaches for global change, GIB develops a sustainable and resilient infrastructure asset class and provides knowledge products and platforms for Nature-based Solutions (NbS), green, and hybrid infrastructure. Our research and advocacy focus on creating sustainable and resilient infrastructure, with an emphasis on NbS, green infrastructure, and innovative financing, covering topics such as ecosystem-based water management, river restoration, and flood prevention. GIB also explores sustainable asset valuation, infrastructure sustainability, and public-private partnerships to drive sustainable growth. Our advocacy efforts aim to influence global policy and practice, offering valuable insights and tools to support the adoption of sustainable infrastructure solutions worldwide. We collaborate with industry leaders, practitioners, and institutions to advance sustainable infrastructure by sharing expertise and thought leadership, as demonstrated by the S²Cities programme, where we have shared programme insights at over 100 events with key urban stakeholders.
Fostering dialogues and communication between diverse actors in the infrastructure space. GIB is instrumental in bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to promote sustainable, resilient infrastructure. GIB organises conferences, workshops, and roundtables that serve as platforms for meaningful dialogue among governments, financiers, project developers, and communities. Out approach ensures inclusive and participatory discussions, leading to co-created solutions that align with global sustainability standards. GIB's efforts result in shared understanding, consensus on best practices, and the promotion of sustainable infrastructure investments globally. A successful example was our Future-Proof Infrastructure Early-Stage Sustainable Infrastructure Congress & Expo, which brought together early-stage bankable projects and investors in the interest of sustainability. For the S²Cities programme, we led the 2023 Global Convening, uniting urban stakeholders to exchange insights, best practices, and youth-driven solutions from our programme cities—all within an immersive Virtual Reality experience.
Working on the ground to improve the resilience of cities and populations through infrastructure that can adapt, recover and withstand shocks and stresses, such as those caused by climate change, migration and urbanisation. GIB’s in-house Nature for Catchments Launchramp Methodology, for instance, is a project origination and development framework that assesses the feasibility of NbS for adaptation, complementing or even replacing ‘grey’ infrastructure to sustainably reduce flood and drought impacts on infrastructure, industries, ecosystems, and communities.
