André Schneider is a senior leader at the intersection of aviation, sustainable infrastructure, and climate policy, with a career spanning executive, board, and advisory roles across Europe and beyond. From 2016 to 2024, he served as CEO of Geneva Airport, where he led the development of a net zero by 2037 sustainability roadmap, guided the airport through the COVID-19 crisis, and drove significant advances in operational efficiency and passenger experience. He has also chaired the ACI Fund at Airports Council International, sat on the ACI Europe board, and currently works as a part-time on-call executive aviation strategy consultant with NACO (Netherlands Airport Consultants), as well as teaching on an MBA programme in air transport management.
Beyond aviation, André brings deep expertise in sustainable infrastructure and climate governance. He chairs the Aviation Research Center Switzerland (ARCS), a national research body founded in 2017 in response to a Swiss Federal Council mandate, and the World Climate Foundation, where he has been active for over a decade. He is a board member of SolarStratos, the pioneering solar electric aviation venture, and an advisory board member at the Leonardo Centre on Business for Society at Imperial College London. Earlier in his career he served as Vice-President for Resources and Infrastructures at EPFL, one of Europe's leading technical universities, and as the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of the World Economic Forum. André has been a Vice-President of the GIB Board since 2011, and brings to that role a rare combination of operational leadership, strategic vision, and genuine commitment to sustainability as a practical imperative.
Other current positions: Chairman, Aviation Research Center Switzerland; Chairman, World Climate Foundation; Board Member, SolarStratos SA; Advisory Board Member, Leonardo Centre on Business for Society (Imperial College London); On-Call Executive Consultant, NACO (Netherlands Airport Consultants); Lecturer, MBA in Air Transport Management (University of the Aegean / Democritus University of Thrace).
