Christian Deseglise is a senior figure in sustainable finance and infrastructure, with a career spanning investment banking, academia and international policy. He spent thirty-three years at HSBC, where he held a series of senior roles culminating in Group Head of Sustainable Infrastructure and Innovation, and before that served as Global Head of Central Banks, Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds and Global Sponsor of Sustainable Finance. He also held senior emerging markets roles at HSBC and BTG Pactual, building deep expertise in international capital markets over more than three decades. Alongside his banking career, he has been an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs since 2009, and co-founded the BRIC Lab there in 2011.

Christian is engaged across a wide range of board, advisory and policy roles at the intersection of sustainable finance, infrastructure and climate. He is a member of the Eminent Persons Group of the Pact for Prosperity, People and the Planet (4P), a member of the One Planet Lab established by President Macron, and a non-executive board member of GHGSat and Shift EV. He sits on the Responsible Investment Committee of the Supervisory Board of the Fonds de Réserve pour les Retraites (FRR) in France, and is a member of the Board and Executive Committee of Mundi Ventures. He has been a Board Member of GIB since 2024, and brings to that role an exceptional combination of global financial expertise, sustainability leadership, and academic rigour.
