Daniel Wiener is the Founder and President of the GIB, which promotes sustainable infrastructure finance on the global level with the help of an independent quality standard. He also serves on the board of trustees of the Gold Standard Foundation, the Oek-omedia foundation and the UNEP Collaborating Centre Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy BASE, and the executive board of the Swiss logistics in-frastructure project Cargo Sous Terrain (CST) and swisscleantech. he was born in Bern (Switzerland) in 1953. Since 1973 he has lived in Basel, where he studied Economics at Basel University and later completed a postgraduate diploma in Arts Management.

During his several decades of experience, he has worked as a sustainable development consultant, journalist, author, mediator, moderator, city developer, ecologist and cultural manager. He is a pioneer of sustainable financing and his knowledge and expertise are highly sought after both in Switzerland and internationally by businesses, associations, investors, multilateral institu-tions, government and city institutions.
