Daniel Wiener is the Founder and Board Chair of the Global Infrastructure Basel (GIB) Foundation, which he established in 2010 to mainstream sustainable, resilient and regenerative infrastructure finance. With a career rooted in sustainability spanning four decades, he brings exceptional depth and continuity to his work: he co-founded ecos, a Swiss consultancy and think-tank for sustainable development, which he led for over 30 years, and has been a driving force behind numerous pioneering initiatives in green finance, clean energy, and sustainable architecture. He chairs CO2 Pipeline Schweiz AG, Switzerland's largest single decarbonisation project, and is a co-founder of the Swiss Future Fund Foundation and a founding member of swisscleantech, fair fashion factory and Basel Strick AG. Earlier in his career, he was a part-time Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), and began his professional life as a journalist and editor, including as co-founder of Die Wochenzeitung.
