John Häfelfinger-Vionnet is a senior Swiss banking executive with a career of over three decades in corporate and structured finance. He served as CEO of BLKB (Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank) from 2017 to 2025, leading one of Switzerland's major cantonal banks with a focus that included corporate sustainability and wealth management. Prior to BLKB, he held senior roles at Credit Suisse spanning structured and corporate lending, export finance and transportation finance, including ship and aviation finance, as well as an earlier career in relationship banking at UBS.
Beyond his executive career, John has been an active contributor to Switzerland's financial and civic landscape. He served on the board of the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks and as a member of the board of the Handelskammer beider Basel, where he remains a board member today. He is a foundation board member of Stiftung pro REHAB, a leading Swiss rehabilitation centre. John joined the GIB Board in 2026, and brings to the foundation deep expertise in sustainable banking, structured finance and Swiss institutional governance.
