During the upcoming New York Climate Week, the FAST-Infra Label and AON are hosting a high-level convening of insurers, reinsurers, financiers and infrastructure developers to co-develop solutions that address a critical bottleneck: improving insurability and risk transparency in infrastructure projects.
Sustainable infrastructure lies at the heart of global efforts to respond to climate change and build resilience for the billions who depend on infrastructure for their safety, survival, and well-being. Yet, a clear financing stream for sustainable infrastructure remains elusive - due in part to real and perceived risks that make such projects challenging to insure, finance, and scale.
Objectives:
This event will convene leading insurers, reinsurers, asset owners, and standards-setters to:
- Advance the integration of climate risk frameworks into underwriting, investment processes and metrics.
- Identify priority actions that the infrastructure ecosystem can take to accelerate the insurability of projects using common standards such as the FAST-Infra Label.
- Co-develop pathways for insurers and reinsurers to influence the design and assessment of infrastructure projects.
- Define near-term follow-ups, including shared commitments or working groups, to be tracked and advanced post-event.
